Description

Say yes to a winning bunch! Presented is a group of (6) 1960s-1970s multi-sport bobble heads, with:

Notre Dame Fighting Irish round blue base "Toes Up" variety, with red foil "Made in Japan" sticker under the base. The supply of Notre Dame bobbles with "ND" jersey decals is plentiful, and examples with "Notre Dame" spelled out on the chest can be had, though in much lesser numbers. The piece offered here positions as a rare type. This fetching fellow sports the team nickname "Fighting Irish" on his jersey front, while the school name "Notre Dame" is located on the front of the base, and the overlapping "ND" logo appears on both sides of the helmet. After a painstaking search, we found no other example with this decal combination. The jersey and base decals are fairly strong with just slight wear, and the helmet decals show a bit more wear than the lettering. Flecks of surface paint loss are located on the helmet and base for the most part, and there is a short hairline crack about a 1/2" long on the right side of the helmet, that is barely perceptible. Otherwise, this is a very appealing (VG-EX+) piece, with strong paint, decent gloss and securely attached faceguard.

USC Trojans green round base, with Japan stamp under the base, "SC" bright gold lettering on the jersey front, "Trojans" black lettering on the front of the base, and raised "00" numbers on the back in white. On casual inspection, this very attractive piece presents NM+ quality, however there is the slightest bit of paint rub on the left shoulder from head contact, and two hairline cracks, both measuring a mere 1/4" in length, with one on the right and one on the left side of the head.

Los Angeles Lakers round gold base with green and white "Made in Japan" sticker under the base. Another piece that presents as potentially unique, this vintage basketball piece wears a purple jersey and gold pants, while his contemporaries typically are seen with a gold shirt. Though this guy is without decals, there's no mistaking the Lakers colors. A small chip is located on the back of the left ear, and there's some minor paint rub on the front of the base, and that's it for wear, as otherwise this outstanding (EX-MT+) piece presents as factory fresh.

Portland Trail Blazers round gold base, without stamp or sticker under the base. At first glance, this piece presents as like-new, with vibrant colors and super gloss. An unobtrusive 1" hairline crack on the back of the head, and some very minor wear on the underside of the head opening force an (EX-MT) rating, though really it's as handsome an example as you are likely to find.

Seattle SuperSonics round gold base, without stamp or sticker under the base. The head angles right, and there are minute flecks of wear around the green accent stripe at the top of the shorts, otherwise this is another gorgeous (EX-MT) piece.

Shenandoah Downs jockey with square red base, and "1962 Japan" stamp under the base. The head is detached, but sits comfortably on the spring. There are three hairline cracks radiating up from the head opening, and considerable surface paint chips on the front of the collar and tie. There are also flecks of paint chipping on the base at rear, and the sticker on the front of the base is slightly curled at left. Despite these conditions, which force a (GD) rating, this piece still presents handsomely.
