The world suffered a terrible blow on New Year's Eve 1972, when the great Roberto Clemente died in a tragic plane crash. A remarkable hero on the diamond, the Puerto Rican native was also a courageous humanitarian, who went down in storm while flying in a relief plane headed for Nicaragua. Many were hard hit and tributes abounded, among them this collection of (7) records. All are graced with an image of Clemente, and the covers are generally clean and solid. (3) albums remain sealed in original wrapping, and the discs in the opened covers and sleeves appear to be unplayed. A sweet find for devoted fans, this collection hits all the right notes.

1970 "Roberto Clemente Day" 33RPM album sponsored by El Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, is considered rare. This Spanish language edition was released in conjunction with the 7/24/70 event held by the Pittsburgh Pirates at the newly opened Three Rivers Stadium. The original shrink wrap is opened at the right edge, but remains tight. The disc is immaculate, the interior paper sleeve is moderately toned and remains intact, and the cover bears slight corner wear, while the top edge has a slight bend that runs 5" in from the right. Clemente appears in an illustration on the front, while the back bears an image of the Pirates stadium.

1973 G&C Records "Clemente" 33RPM album sealed in original wrap. The disc is presumed (MT) and the cover has moderately dinged corners. Clemente is depicted on the front in an illustration, and the back is decorated with multiple photographs.

1973 Fox Studios "Roberto Clemente" 33RPM album by the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra, is also considered rare. The original wrap is opened at the right edge, and the cover remains clean and bright with only minor corner wear. The interior sleeve is crisp with slight toning, and the disc appears to be unplayed. Clemente is seen in a photo on the front, and the orchestra is pictured on the back. 

1973 Triple-B Productions "Roberto Clemente Memorial Album" English language 33RPM album is sealed in original wrap. The disc is presumed (MT) and the vibrant gold cover shows minimal wear. Clemente is pictured on the front, above the legend "Elected to the Hall of Fame 1973". The back is formatted with a bio, career stats and photos of Pirates players and executives, including Bing Crosby and Willie Stargell. 

1973 Triple-B Productions "Roberto Clemente Memorial Album" Spanish language 33RPM album is sealed in original wrap, and is considered fairly tough. The disc is presumed (MT), and the cover has minor wear. The front and back covers have the same details as the English language version listed above, with the exception of being white instead of gold. 

1973 Triple-B Productions "The Ballad of Roberto Clemente" 45RPM record with original photo sleeve. The disc is pristine, and the sleeve shows light to moderate wear, though it is complete and intact. Clemente is pictured on the front and back. 

1970s Chatham Records "Song of Roberto" by Mario Martinelli 45RPM record with sleeve, is scarce to rare. The disc is pristine, and the sleeve shows light wear. Clemente is depicted in a batting pose illustration on the front of the sleeve, while the back of the sleeve is plain white. The flip side of the record is "Spanish Harlem," performed by the John Michael Flaherty Duo.
