With their Sunday gridiron dates numbered, the Baltimore Colts acquired former Oklahoma star and perennial Heisman hopeful Joe Washington before the 1978 season. Among the last of the "original Colts" to earn Pro-Bowl recognition, Washington performed for three seasons at Memorial Stadium, where he was issued this Baltimore Colts home jersey. The blue mesh pullover garment features the club's traditional white-and-blue stretch knit shoulder panels and V-neck collar. In white appliqué, "20" appears on the front, back and sleeves in block-style numerals, and "WASHINGTON" is applied in like fashion to a nameplate atop the back number. Sleeve and tail customizations are consistent with images from 1978 and 1980. The numeric font matches the style used during those two seasons, as well. A game-issued jersey with no apparent wear, this Waverly football relic is an estimated size 42. Full photo LOA from Dave Miedema.
