Having advanced to the Fall Classic five times over the 13-year period between 1941 and 1953, the Brooklyn Dodgers were met and thwarted by their cross-borough nemesis from the Bronx in each and every October showdown. The 1955 battle pitted the same Big Apple combatants against one another and resulted in a long-awaited Brooklyn triumph. The offered 1956 Dodgers yearbook provides boundless appeal on two fronts. Aesthetically, the guide provides the eye-pleasing proclamation of "World Champs 1955" with Willard Mullin's beloved "Bum" mascot giving a justified wry grin. Trumping that design are two additional cover decorations: the autographs of Dodger staples Jackie Robinson (d.1972) and Don Newcombe. Executed in graphite pencil, Robinson's autograph projects ("7") strength and clarity, while Newcombe's slightly lighter scripting warrants ("6") assessment. The 48-page publication, meanwhile, exhibits (EX) quality with all elements intact and stray pen markings on both covers. Full photo LOA from James Spence Authentications. Certification/hologram #B97437.
