Description

While the 1921 fall Classic marked the New York Yankees' first-ever appearance, it was also the first of what currently amounts to 14 all-Gotham World Series showdowns. The offered program was issued at the Polo grounds during that eight-game affair in 1921. As images go, the 16-page guide features only a team composite. The unmarked scoring grids list pre-printed lineups that reveal Ruth as the number three hitter (Bob Meusel manned the cleanup slot). With covers and all pages intact, the program shows (VG) quality with wear and partial separation at the spine and handling-induced discoloration/toning on the covers. Felled in both the '21 and '22 series, the Yanks have since triumphed in 11 of 12 subway confrontations.
