Celebrating Connie Mack’s golden anniversary of his entrance into professional baseball, legions of close friends, confidants and associates gathered on August 4, 1944 at Shibe Park in Philadelphia. The festivities were highlighted by an evening of fine dining, a testimonial of Mack’s career and an exchange of gifts. The toastmaster (our consignor’s grandfather) was the recipient of the offered decorative 10K gold bracelet. This keepsake has survived the decades in remarkable condition. The curved ball-and-bat design is free of any significant wear or surface discoloration. To add depth to this piece, the toastmaster subsequently added (28) World Series and championship press pins/charms from 1931-1961. The threaded posts on the reverses were meticulously removed, without disrupting the finish of these collectibles. Included are World Series: 1931 Cardinals, 1932 Yankees, 1933 Senators, 1939 Yankees, 1947 Yankees, 1950-1952 Yankees, 1951 Giants, 1954 Indians, 1955-1958 Yankees, 1961 Yankees; All-Star: 1946, 1949 & 1950; Other: 1948 NFL Championship, 1950s Phillies charm, 1950 Orange Bowl charm, 1953 & 1954 Heisman, Penn logo and (4) additional Philadelphia sports journalist related items. Truly a unique sports collectible that is “worth its weight in gold.”
