With simultaneous thoughts of savings and sluggers, youngsters of the 1950s enjoyed novelties like this Louisville Slugger mini-bat bank. Standing 5-1/2"-tall, the colorful plastic item has a 4"-diamter base, on which (10) wooden mini-bats are to be symmetrically arranged (with slots atop the piece to secure the bat handles). The 4-1/2" wooden bats are included. Each features the Hillerich & Bradsby center brand and facsimile signature of a period superstar. Includes: Ashburn, Banks, Berra, Fox, Kaline, Kluszewski, Mantle, Mathews, Snider and T. Williams. Atop the piece, a slot facilitates insertion of coins, which can be retrieved by unscrewing the base. All elements are well preserved, though there is slight wear on the "Famous Slugger Autographs" proclamation on the bank piece and minimal chipping on the knob of the Ashburn bat.
