Description

The 1960-61 Detroit Red Wings were the last of the "Original 6" teams to advance to the prestigious Stanley Cup without benefit of a winning regular-season record. The offered team-issued photo from that season is signed by (10) members of that Motor City roster. The 11 x 8-1/2" black-and-white photograph depicts the team and features printed player identifications on a white border below the image. On the reverse, a handwritten date reads: "Jan 22,1961"; the players' blue-ink fountain pen signatures trumpet ("9") and ("10") strength throughout. Includes: Howie Glover, Warren Godfrey (d.1997), Gordie Howe, John McKenzie, Jerry Melnyk, Murray Oliver, Norm Ullman, Gump Worsley (d.2007), Howie Young (d.1999, not pictured) and one unidentified signature. The nicely preserved keepsake is minimally affected by a tiny tear at the left border and small comer creases on the right side. None of these imperfections affects the potent signatures. Full photo LOA from James Spence Authentications.
