Long before he was to take on regal titles such as "The King of Rock and Roll" or simply "The King," Elvis Presley endured humble beginnings with a child's guitar on little-known stages in Memphis. His boyish looks and suggestive gyrations, of course, led to a deity status unmatched in the world of music. The offered souvenir tour program was autographed by the Mississippi-born heartthrob before his star ascended to dizzying heights. With covers and (8) pages completely intact, the guide showcases Presley's likeness on both the front and back covers, hawking the 21-year-old as country music's "Mr. Rhythm." In graphite pencil, Presley has endorsed his front cover image. Prefaced by his inscription of "Thanks," Presley's autograph projects ("7-8") strength and clarity. Believed to be the first tour program on which Elvis graced the cover, this particular example is free of compacting folds usually found on such items. Minor foxing and discoloration do not affect the powerful signature. Full photo LOA from James Spence Authentications.
